In a statement yesterday signed by its spokesperson, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the body accused Kingibe of abandoning the struggle, adding: “You betrayed the democratic/June 12 struggle when you accepted to work with Gen. Sani Abacha, who was rejected nationally and internationally, and helped him in the shameful brutal journey to crush the voice of democracy in return for political appointment. “You claimed to be a democrat, but you abandoned your vice presidential position and left Abiola to rot away, while you took position as minister few weeks into the struggle. “You betrayed a man who took you as his deputy and leaked all his plans to a bloody ruthless dictator. “Obasanjo, for anything, is not cheap and not a traitor, but a man of courageous character; hence he refused to bow to crumbs from the table of the ruthless dictator, which was sweet/irresistible for some.”CUPP wondered why Kingibe was honoured by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying: “We are not kids when we kept quiet and Buhari honoured you with June 12 award, despite your betrayal. “So, as you people honour Abiola with the stadium built by Obasanjo, just do it quietly and not allow us open can of worms that will politically silence you all for ever.
